My hair is naturally curly, very curly so it gets dry, tangled or frizzy very easily.
The products that I have been using on my hair and loving are:
Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner
I co-wash my hair with this conditioner and it is just amazing!
I co-wash my hair about twice a week for 4 weeks then on the fifth week I do a deep condition, wash it out with neutralising shampoo and apply leave-in conditioner.
ORS incredibly rich oil moisturizing hair lotion
This is my favourite leave-in conditioner because it's very concentrated which is just what I need to add bounce to my curls and add moisture to my very dry hair.
The only down side is it does tend to make hair look dull so you can mix it with some olive oil (or coconut, argan, hazelnut oil, ect)
ECO Styler Argan Oil Styling Gel
This gel is perfect because it doesn't flake my hair or make it hard but it gives just enough hold or helps to emphasise curls for an easy style.
KTC Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is one of the only natural hair oils that penetrates our hair shaft which is why it not only adds shine but adds moisture. I combine mine with my ORS leave in conditioner.
*tip: natural coconut oil is a solid at room temperature!
Deep conditioning protein treatment recipe:
- Warm and melt coconut oil (enough for your hair)
- Cool down for 2-3 mins
- Whisk 1 or 2 egg into the coconut oil (depending on length & thickness of the hair)
- Apply the mixture to the hair (work through the ends and hair line especially)
Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment
I've just started using this product and I must say my curls never looked so alive. I added a little ORS leave-in to add bounce but this takes my curls to a new level; I've never seen my hair look so thick... I love it!
Dr. Miracle's Gro Oil
Some like this oil for deep conditioning or treatments but I must say if you want to see your hair grow like a bush then this is the hair oil for you! I saw extensive hair growth just month after but it does have a strong burning smell which some people don't like so I use it before bed and wrap my hair as the warmth helps stimulate growth.
A few snaps of my hair over the last year!
My curls when I began to take care of my hair - the beginning of my hair journey...
My hair 'stretched' out two days after a wash - stretching is when I do bantu knots or thick
plaits throughout the night to stretch the hair strands making them more wavy and less curly.
My natural hair - half up, half down: I used my ORS leave-in condition to add moisture but as you can see it needs some oil to put the shine back in so now I always use coconut oil.
My protective hair style - Ghana braids: I use my Dr. Miracle gro oil to moisturise between my braid to stop the strain on my scalp and promote hair growth.
Another protective hairstyle - I did these large braids because it gives my hair a break and time to grow out!
**Tip: try to wear your hair in protective styles or find a style which keeps your ends tucked away as this is the oldest part of your hair!
Protective hair styles help to retain length by minimizing the amount of manipulation which causes everyday wear and tear
